North West Destinations… We’ve got the destination for you.
Somebody once wrote a lovely comparison and I would like to share it with you.
“Every morning an impala awakes knowing that it must outrun the fastest lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning a lion awakes knowing that it must outrun the slowest impala or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a lion or an impala, when the sun comes up in Africa you must wake up running”.

Here in the North West Destinations / Province there features two major premier wildlife destinations, the Pilanesberg National Park and the Madikwe Game Reserve. This beautiful bush-veld is the place where the human element indeed shrinks into utter insignificance, and grips you and subdues you and makes you one with yourself, a place to come to rest and find yourself. You arrive one person and leave just a little altered.
A four-hour hot air balloon ride over the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park offers game viewing at its best. Here, 55 000ha of trees and grassland support a wildlife population that includes the Big Five. This is all in a close distance of about 2 ½ hours’ drive from OR Tambo International Airport and 1 ½ hours’ drive from Lanseria International Airport. Self-drive in Pilanesberg National Park is allowed but organized drives are available in the Madikwe Game Reserve.
Both parks are hosting the African wild dogs or Cape hunting dogs also known as the painted faces of the African Wilderness, listed as African’s endangered mammals. A sighting of these pointy bats-like ears and white-tipped bushy tails dogs are rare and a very special event. They live in packs and headed by an alpha male and alpha female and are carnivores and their natural enemy and competitors are lions and hyenas.
Boubou Guesthouse is a bed and breakfast in close distances to these malaria-free parks. We do not only offer a stopover to these Parks, but have established ourselves as an award winning tourist destination for more than 10 years in the hospitality industry. We welcome families with small children and pregnant women in a malaria-free destination, your home away from home. We do not only open our house but also our hearts to welcome you as a guest and leaving as a friend.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to true South African hospitality and when the sun comes up over the African bush-veld, you must wake up running to our view point and enjoy a fresh start to an exciting day in Africa.
